Uomo d'Arbione (CH) - 2 414 meters

Nr 99

Third peak of today's 4 peaks hike (Forca-Poncione d'Arbione-Uomo d'Arbione-Poncione Pro do Rodùc).

The peak is listed at page 227 of the 3rd Book of the CAS Guides about the Ticino-Region (Dal Passo del san Gottardo al Pizzo di Claro).. and as the one before which is basically his "brother-peak", it's a nice one!

Unlike on the previous mountain, here it's clearly visible where the summit is located, in fact there are some interesting wooden constructions on it and a couple of stones to sit on for a short break.

The ridge which connects the two "brother-peaks" is really narrow at some points (pic 6) and therefore most of the time it's recommended to walk around it on the southern side, although also this way of walking is quite dangerous and steep as explained in peak Nr 98 which is where this ridge connects to, it's definitely the better way to take (pic 4).

The Uomo d'Arbione is a nice summit which gives some challenges to the hiker without ever arising the need to really climb, you still need to watch your step as you don't want to fall here; you can't predict if and where your fall would stop.. Having said that, it's still important to say that it's a nice and typical peak for someone which feels ready to go for the first bigger challenges...it's certainly doable.

Most of the time there are none or very unclear paths to follow here, even if the way you have to go is quite obvious, a wet underground (which we fortunately did nor have) could present a serious challenge here.

Hiking Level: T3+ (the most dangerous sections are not enough for a T4 as they were at Poncione d'Arbione).
