70th summit in Switzerland
This sunday we didn't have much time as we were in the middle of a move. Nevertheless, we needed a quick escape from our furniture-mounting routine and the fact that there were still two side-peaks missing on my list in the Tamaro-massive was just perfect for that.
Our choice for today was "Torri", listed in the official guides of the CAS (Club Alpino Svizzero) at page 487 of the 5th volume (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi). It basically is the peak which finishes the ridge coming down from Zottone (Peak in the middle of the famous Tamaro-Lema Hike).
We walked up to it starting from the small village of Fescoggia, following path 737 which is explained at page 486. This path actually guides up the whole ridge of the Zottone but we already stopped at Torri as we almost had no food or drinks with us (+ we had to go back to continue with our relocation).
From Torri there is a nice view of the Lugano lake and the Region of Alto Malcantone. Having said that, it's by far not the best view around here. Torri is just the first place out of the woods when walking up from the valley to the Zottone, where you realise that you already have climbed hundreds of meters.
For today though, it was just perfect. It was 30 degrees celsius in Lugano today and the choice was between a dip in the lake and the mountains :-)
