Punta Negra (CH) - 2 714 meters

Nr 15

Sixt and highest peak (out of 7) on our big traverse from Föisc.

Traverse: (Föisc-Pian Alto-Camoghé-Pizzo Tom-Pizzo Stabbiello-Poncioni Negri-Punta Negra).

We reached the top from the northern side coming out from Val Canaria. I'd say that from a hiking standpoint we chose the second hardest ascend (there is a T4 coming from Poncioni Negri and a T3+ going up from Capanna Cadlimo).

This last one is explained as path 255 (from Bocchetta del Camoghé)  explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club), page 206 of the 3rd volume (Guida delle alpi ticinesi, dal Passo San Gottardo al Pizzo di Claro).

Our way was a little bit more on the north-western side (7th picture below) but then on the ridge, it merged into path 255 which is coming up from the Cadlimo hut.

There are some points where you need to climb a bit and it's completely off path, there are also really exposed parts where you can't afford a false step.

The summit is fascinating and the pointy stones on top are incredible. Risky when wet!
