Poncioni Negri (CH) - 2 688 meters

Nr 16

Last peak on our big traverse up to Punta Negra.

Traverse: (Föisc-Pian Alto-Camoghé-Pizzo Tom-Pizzo Stabbiello-Poncioni Negri-Punta Negra).

We choose to go around the two last peaks on the western side and reach them from north as it rained for 2 days before and the grass appeared really slippery. In fact the south ascend is a T5- and therefore if you don't feel it.. don't do it, there is no other way than down!

Bascially in the end we went to the highest of the 4 Poncioni Negri peaks coming from North after having reached Punta Negra which was doable.

After we went around Punta Negra and had climbed it from the northern side, we followed the path 257 to reach this last peak, explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club) at page 207 of the 3rd volume (Guida delle alpi ticinesi, dal Passo San Gottardo al Pizzo di Claro).

I'm definitely planning to do the passage on the ridge one day (fourth picture), as it looks amazing, today just wasn't the right day for my current abilities.. I'm sure in a few years I'm there.

Then descent was made on path 256.
