First one in today's 4-Peak hike in Italy (Poncione di Ganna - Monte Minisfreddo - Monte San Bernardo - Monte Rho d'Arcisate).
These 4 peaks aren't listed in any guide of mine but there is a (and only ..) good reason we dediced to do a hike around here. In fact, one of my objectives in this whole summit hunt game I started for myself, was to possibly have stood at least one time on all peaks that are visible from our apartment... 3 out of the 4 peaks from today's hike are in sight from our balcony and therefore it was only a matter of time until I had to appear up here :-)
Having said that, although the Poncione di Ganna is the only one which cannot be seen from our home, in the end it was the one today which gave us the best views. In fact, you get an interesting and new (to me) view into Switzerland and the Lugano Lake on one side and towards the biggest European Mountains on the other side (the weather was not that great for long views though).
As Katrin is 5 months pregnant, the easy hike was perfect for today in order to avoid big climbs as you never know.. we drove up to Passo del Tedesco first and started from there. As you can see in the route below, it still was an interesting hike even without having the "big" climbs in it. Of course you could integrate that in your hike if you want to have a bit more of a challenge by starting from the bottom of the valley or directly from the lake.
The Paths are very obvious but pretty steep at times, at some points the are a lot of craggy rocks and you need to check where you put your feet to ensure to have a secured step (picture 6). There is no risk of falling though, so the level still stays under T3.
Level : T2+
