Today we chose a special route up to this summit, which was a bit adventurous to say the least.
It was the first peak out of 3 today (Poncino della Croce-Uomo del Sasso-Cimetto). In fact, the planned hike today was much longer and included a total of 7 peaks... due to too much snow above 1700 meters and a long party evening the night before we had to change our plans.
We will reach the other peaks in some other tour in the future for sure.
We walked up to Poncino della Croce from Quartino at 216 meters above sea level. The first 1,5 hours there was a clear path to follow but after that we basically just walked up the ridge though the woods, having also to climb some pretty slippery rock faces at some points (picture 5).
This is a very steep and physically demanding hike, having said that there would also be an easier way up when starting from Vira (T3-).
The views on top (and the beautiful cross on the peak) are very rewarding and worth the climb.
