A hike that I have planned forever today.
I can't count how many times I drove past this mountain in my life and thought about how iconic it looks and wondered how it would feel like to stand on it and look down.
Whats interesting about it is that it's actually a two-summit peak and the most famous one (and also the only one we went up to) is the southern one which is slightly lower in height than the Northern one.
From the Village of San Bernardino from where we started, the northern Peak is not visible at all and I would bet 90% of people don't even know that there is another peak to it which is actually slightly higher.
Honestly, as this peak is the majestic and famous one, I decided to count it as reached peak even if we weren't on the northern (higher) one, One day I might be in this area again and complete them both but for now I'm happy with it.
We walked up on path 301 explained in the Guide "Guida delle Alpi Mesolcinesi 4 - Dallo Zapporthorn al Passo S.Jorio" at page 276. Basically we started from the Village of San Bernardino and walked up the whole hike on a clear path. Only slightly before the top it gets a bit tricky and quite exposed (Picture 8) which makes the Whole hike a T4- in my eyes.
Beautiful Mountain, beautiful day.
