Motto della Croce (CH) - 1 393 meters

We had a long weekend in front of us (bank holiday on Monday) but unfortunately the weather predictions weren’t promising at all. The only day which seemed to be suitable for a walk in the mountains was Saturday and we used it to finally hike up three peaks which had been on my list since a long time.
In fact these peaks are among the most famous ones in the Lugano region and therefore on a normal weekend, most social media pictures of people that live in the area are taken around this ridge when they chose to go for a mountain-walk.
Strangly enough, it really took me a long time to be on top of them to be honest J
To start our three-peak walk of today (Motto della Croce – Caval Drossa – Monte Bar), we started from Gola di Lago and walked up path nr. 273 which is explained at page 267 of the 5t volume of the CAS (Club Alpino Svizzero). The peak itself is listed at page 265 in the same guide.
The path up to Motto della Croce is spectacular as can be seen from the last picture below. When arrived, the view is more than breathtaking as it really gives you an idea of the whole surroundings of Lugano.
Having said that, the views got better and better with every meter we walked up after this but still, for being around 1400 meters only, this place is a stunner.
Motto della Croce can be reached also by bike as there is a normal road coming up the mountain from the other side of the ridge.
By the way, in my opinion this is not a real peak, it's more like a famous landmark on the ridge of the other peaks. Nevertheless on the guides and also in Hikr.org they refer to it as a peak, therefore I decided to include it in the list.
