Moro Rock (USA) - 2 050 meters

Nr 116

What can I say about Moro Rock?

It is a mountain in the Sequoia National park where you can easily drive to in order to start only from where the last prominence from east starts (instead of doing the whole one from the bottom). We didn't have much time today as we had a long drive to and from it and decided to take the easy way up this mountain. You could theoretically walk up here from the bottom of the valley, but I don't think anybody would do this because you end up in the tourist masses instead of a rewarding lonely-place in nature... tourists like we were today basically..

If one visits this national park, you are here for the big trees and the fresh air, having said that this peak is one of the most important places of interest because of the open view of the whole valley and the gigantic forest; In fact, it's by far the best and probably only viewpoint.

There is not much to say about the way up here, it is well secured and not particularly difficult, of course it goes a few hundred meters uphill but that should not give any hiker any special problems... on the other hand I have seen several Americans who have had near-death experiences on their hike up here :-).

Worth a visit, nothing special, another one in the bag. Let's move on to another national park.
