Monte Sant'Agata (CH) - 940 Meters

Nr 44

This is the officially 9th-smallest mountain in the region Ticino, it's listed as such in the official guides of the CAS (Club Alpino Svizzero) at page 544 of the 5th volume (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi).

We chose this mountain today because we needed something short for the afternoon. We were skiing in the morning until 11.00, unfortunately due to bad visibility we had to stop and needed a different plan for the afternoon. This small mountain was the perfect option for today (15 degrees on the 25th of February) and we quickly drove back home to change gear and clothes.

We started our hike from Rovio following path 902 (b) and walked up and down the mountain counterclockwise. It's a perfect short hike which gives interesting views of the "Monte Generoso massif" and as usual there are nice views of the big 4000 meter mountains you almost get on every summit in this region.

On top there is no cross or something similar, but like on top of Sighignola and Monte Brè, there is a small chapel which marks the highest point of the peak.

Different from mountains around, on this one you don't get those great views of the lake as there is another little hill in the middle; good little hike though and another peak on our list.
