This was the second peak in todays 3 summit hike (Monte Gambarogno, Monte Paglione, Covreto).
We took the north-eastern route, coming up from Colle di Sant'Anna following path 610 explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club) at page 434 of the 5th volume (Guida delle Prealpi ticinesi).
This was the second peak in 2017.
Coming down from Monte Gambarogno we passed an old chapel located in the middle of the woods (Oratorio di Sant'Anna). This little church is basically located in the middle of the two mountains and can be seen as starting point for both of them. From there it's a pretty steep but easy walk up (40 minutes) to this summit.
The path is clearly marked out, even if due to the fallen leaves in this period, the whole mountain was covered by them, making it sometimes challenging to not loose the right way.. when in doubt just walk upwards though..
The peak itself has nothing spectacular to it, as it's completely flat and grassy.
Due to the shape of the top, also the views are not particularly nice as they are at the other two mountains we went up today.
The Monte Paglione is located exactly on the border between Italy and Switzerland, in fact on the 6th picture below I'm sitting on the border stone.
