Second one in today's 4-Peak hike in Italy (Poncione di Ganna - Monte Minisfreddo - Monte San Bernardo - Monte Rho d'Arcisate).
These 4 peaks aren't listed in any guide of mine but there is a (and only..) good reason we dediced to do a hike around here. In fact, one of my objectives in this whole summit hunt game I started for myself, was to possibly have stood at least one time on all peaks that we can see from our apartment. 3 out of 4 peaks of today are in sight from our balcony and therefore it was only a matter of time until I had to appear up here :-)
Monte Minisfreddo is the highest of today, which says a lot about the hike.. these are basically the first mountains after hundreds of Kilometers of flat ground in Italy from Genova through Milan until here. it's the start of the Lugano Pre-Alps and therefore these are the fist "peaks" that you could call like that. These also explains why you still get a good prominence and great views out of it.. as all what's south of it, it's flat :-)
This peak here has: the coolest path, the least interesting view and the least spectacular top of today's hike.
The negative points are connected, as there is no real top and it's bascially only trees, also the views are quite blocked. Having said that, you get them along the way so it's not a real problem.
The path involves some climbing on a fixed iron-rope which was a great way to get a bit of variation in today's hike . Be aware that there definitely are some exposed sections and you need to mind your step, hands are needed for balance (8th picture), nothing too dramatic though.
