Monte Generoso (CH) - 1 701 METERS

Easy but pretty long Sunday-hike.
Started from Mendrisio and hiked up the route coming from south (and back down the same path) all on a clear hiking path which comes following the route nr. 905 (on the ridge) and 903 for the last kilometer, these paths are explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club) at pages 551 and 553 of the 5th volume (Guida delle prealpi ticinesi) and shown on picture at page 555.
The view on top is pretty nice, unfortunately even if it's the highest mountain here the sights are blocked from different ridges around the top.
There are many ways to come up here including much shorter ones but also much more complicated ones like a via Ferrata coming from north. This Via Ferrata is on my mind.. and one day I will do it!
The good thing about this summit is, that there is a special train coming up and starting back down every hour, therefore you could even not enjoy this summit by train..your choice will probably be led by your physical fitness and your time ;-)
