First peak of today's 3 summit hike (Matro, Cima di Medeglia, Motto Rotondo) which also happens to be the 17th smallest in Ticino.
The day started not quite as expected. In fact, after arriving at our starting point at Cima di Dentro the plan we had was a different one:
Our idea was to go up to Pizzo di Corgella, unfortunately after a 20 minutes walk we found ourselves in front of a closed gate as the swiss army was doing some kind of exercise. Therefore, a new plan needed to be found...luckily there was this other hike which could be started from exactly the same place just by walking in the opposite direction.
And it was an important one! Because this mountain here was my 50thiest Peak since i started counting and therefore Katrin painted a little flag for the occasion.
Honestly.. I am a little proud of the achievement...just because I would have never expected to start such a project in the first place.
In the end we walked up to my personal number 50, following path number 314 explained on page 295 of the 5th CAS Volume about the region of Ticino (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi). Having said that, we didn't really follow it precisely as after a while we just decided to go straight up to it through the field.
Our walk back down was a little adventure, as we weren't well informed about the summit (it was a surprise route as explained before) we had no idea where to descend..there was no marked path if not the one we actually missed when coming up.
Basically in the end, we just walked straight down on the other (northern) side as we could see the street below where we knew we had to end up to continue.
Level:T2 (our descent was easily a T3 though).
