Second peak of our 3 summit hike of today (Monte Bigorio, Matro di
Stinchè, Cima di Lago).
We just walked over to this "summit" from Monte
Bigorio, passing the little mountain village of Stinchè, following path number 278 explained
on page 270 of the 5th CAS Volume about the region of Ticino (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi).
This Peak is listed as the 14th-smallest in Ticino.
Out of the 3 of today, this was definitely the one with the poorest views as the other two pretty much block them. Having
said that, it's an easy peak to add to the list once Monte Bigorio is reached and pretty obvious to integrate in this hike.
An interesting detail, is that between the two peaks Matro di Stinchè and Cima di Lago, there is a monument dedicated to the swiss army platoon which was in charge
for decades to protect the southern border. A perfect place for our lunch today.
