First Peak of our 5 summit hike of today (highest of the day is Pizzo Prevat, the others are Rotstock, Posmeda and Pizzo Canariscio).
The Giübin is a 2,5 hour hike away from the Passo San Gottardo. Our route was the one coming up from the western side following the path 140 explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club), page 152 of the 3rd volume (Guida delle alpi ticinesi, dal Passo San Gottardo al Pizzo di Claro).
Even if there are higher Peaks around, the Giübin gives a perfect view of the surroundings which not only includes different peaks but 4 different valleys.
The level is not hard enough for a T3 as the path is continuous and there are no exposed sections. There only was a short snowfield which needed to be passed and some wet slippery rocks.
Furthermore, this peak is exactly on the border between the two cantons Ticino and Uri but the Summit is Part of the "Comune di Airolo" which is in Ticino and therefore is still located in the Italian speaking Part of Switzerland.
There would have been a more logical Route including Pizzo Centrale which would have led circleing us around the Sella Lake, but some days life happens and you need to adapt (Pierpaolo was not feeling it) and therefore that peak waits for me for the next time. Below you will find the route we did this time, having said that, I would recommend to start out the opposite way we did (so with Pizzo Canariscio and follow the ridge around, passing on from Pizzo Prevat to Pizzo Centrale and back down from the northern side of the lake).
