This was the first peak out of a 6 summit hike (Cima Calescio, Camoghè, Vetta del Vallone, Monte Segor, Gazzirola, Cima Moncucco) we had programmed for today.
We started from Alpe Serdena following path 308 (from south) explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club), page 289 of the 5th volume (Guida alle Prealpi Ticinesi).
The ascent is completely off-path and mainly on pretty steep grassy fields. Shoes with a good grip and even trekking poles are almost a must.
Also to mention is, that it's basically a 600 m straight up walk with only a really short part which is a bit flatter. Pretty demanding from a physical standpoint as there is no warm-up :-) (keep that in mind if you decide to start off with this peak).
On a bright clear day, on top you have a great view of most of the biggest mountains in Euope (Monte Rosa, Schreckhorn, Dom,..) and on the ground you can see as far as Brissago, the last Swiss Village on the right side (watching from North) of the Lago Maggiore.
Level: T3 as there are no really exposed sections, it's basically only steep grass.
